I love you more than applesauce!

Valentine’s Day this year was perfect. Nothing too fancy, over the top, or unnecessary.  We spent our evening snuggled up on the couch, surrounded by flickering candles, sipping champagne and watching The Princess Bride. I whipped up one of my best dinners to date, and I’ll admit we were tempted to lick our plates. Gifts, the thoughtful, creative kind that come from the heart and cause your eyes to brim with tears, were exchanged and loved. So, as I said, Valentine’s Day was pretty great, but the best part is that I am married to my best friend and we get to love each each other to pieces every day of the year!

Yum.
This delicious champagne was part of my Christmas gift from my awesome classroom parents- they are the best!
I wrapped each of Isaac’s new pens in a line of a cute Valentine’s Poem by the witty Jack Prelutsky.
I love you more than applesauce,
Than peaches and a plum,
Than chocolate hearts,
And cherry tarts,
And berry bubble-gum.
I love you more than lemonade,
And seven-layer cake,
Than lollipops,
And candy drops,
And thick vanilla shake.
I love you more than marzipan,
Than marmalade on toast;
For I love pies Of any size,
But I love YOU the most!!!
My gorgeous new seahorse painting! Love, love love!
Chinese lighting and Instagram don’t do the color justice. It looks very blue here, but in actuality it is the most gorgeous shade of aqua. I can’t wait find the perfect spot to hang it!
best. meal.ever.
mashed potatoes with caramelized leeks, roasted garlic and parmesan (my own little creation)
salad with homemade balsamic dressing
flourless chocolate rum cake (I used spiced rum)
holy goodness!

We may or may not have each devoured 2 pieces… =)

We hope you all enjoyed your Valentine’s celebrations and that you’re feeling lots and lots of love!
