I-sit and Nenni Arrive Home in Portland

When Morgan first saw us walking towards her at the airport, she squealed excitedly, “I-sit! Nenni!” She instantly recognized us from our frequent Skype chats- talk about heart-melting! She ran towards us, with arms outstretched, and I scooped her up and gave her a big hug. As she pulled back, a startled look came over her face, and her little brow furrowed as she looked back and forth at us. Then she slowly reached her tiny hands forward and touched my face and my hair, just to make sure I was real. Once she determined I was, she raised her tiny fists in the air and cheered, “Yay!” That’s exactly how we felt to be home for Christmas.

Morgan and Auntie Nenni (looking a little grungy from travel!) at the airport.

Once we left the airport, the Marshall/vanBaggen families joined us at my mom’s house for dinner. It was the perfect way to be welcomed back home: warm and cozy, surrounded by loved ones, with bellies full of delicious soup, and hearts even fuller.
