Discovering Instagram

I know instagram has been around for some time, but I tend to drag my heels a bit when it comes to investing my time and energy into learning how to use new technology- even simple technology. For example, I’ve NEVER synced my ipod to my computer. Isaac has always done it for me. Yes, he’s my Apple enabler=). I always seem to get flustered and overwhelmed when learning how to use software and gadgets, and it drives me nuts that I react this way. I suppose if I really think about it, I simply don’t like the “learning curve” that comes with trying something new. Yikes! Did I, a teacher, just say that?! Well, sadly, it’s the truth. It is frustrating not knowing how to accomplish something I want to do, or how to fix problems that arise. Like most others, these are the kinds of issues I run into constantly when I’m working with new technology. Of course, once I get the basics figured out, I happily move right along, grateful for my new knowledge and skills. It’s just that initial jump that causes me to want to act like an ostrich and stick my head in the sand. And yes, I know being reluctant to try new things is not a positive characteristic, especially for the time period in which I’m living. I’m working on it=).

So, I finally jumped on the instagram train today, and I am already completely and totally hooked! I downloaded the app this morning and couldn’t stop taking photos and tinkering with the actions all day. Does anyone have any great instagram actions they recommend? I know I’ll be ready to expand beyond the presets before long!

While I already tend to view the world around me as numerous photographic opportunities, I found myself really honing in on all sorts of little details. I’m so excited thinking about how many more moments I can capture when I’m not lugging around our big cameras! Today is Chinese New Year’s Eve. Sit back, relax, and let our instagrams show you how we spent our day …

I’m pretty sure that you’re not considered Chinese here unless you own a puffy jacket.

I had to buy each of us some lucky red undies to wear tonight. Looking forward to lots of good luck this year!

Snuggled up for a night of loud and crazy fireworks… we’re cozied up on the couch working on our 2012 goals and travel plans. Love these moments!
